And More Bravura...

I'm really happy that everyone in Cool-Ab this round is into working in the journals. The journals are as much fun as the dolls. Here's the pages Barb added to Bravura's tiny journal. Remember, the pages in Bravura's journal are only about 2 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches - so these are mini art journal pages.

Pretty cool, huh? I love the way Barb used the same media in the journal as she used on Bravura herself.
And now here's a pic of Bravura with her bag. She's quite the glamour puss already, huh?

More Bravura

Here's a closeup of the bustier Barb made for Bravura.

You can see the great texture from the Speckle Stone paint, too.
And she made Bravura a bag to keep all her conquests' broken hearts in. She's obviously a maneater in the making!

Barb also posted pics of the very cool pages she added to Bravura's journal - to be posted here soon.

Who'd a thought?

My chickens love tomatoes, so I give them any bad ones from the garden. Recently I started collecting all the scraps and bad spots for them in a bowl while I'm preparing the tomatoes for freezing. The other day my cat, Angel, came up to investigate. She took a sniff and started right in licking the tomato scraps.

She licks and licks and licks and purrs and purrs and purrs. She loves tomatoes! The cat is 14 years old and I never knew she liked tomatoes. Now I have to leave the bowl of scraps on the counter for a couple hours for Angel to enjoy before the chickens get their treat.

I feel kindof bad that I never shared my tomatoes with her during the last 14 years.

Angel also loves Pansy blooms. I was growing some in pots on the back steps one year and the blooms kept disappearing. I couldn't figure out what was happening to 'em. Then one day when I was sitting out there, Angel strolled up and opened her mouth real wide, and swallowed down a whole large bloom! She kept the plants pretty much bloom free. Go figure. Gotta remember to grow some for her this fall.

A Haughty Golden Hussy

Check it out! Just got pics of Bravura Personified's new look after her first visit to Barb in NY.

Pretty stunning, huh? Here's what she looked like when I sent her off on her journey.

Barb spray painted her with a coat of Speckle Stone Metallic spray paint followed by a very light coat of Lumiere Hi Lite Red. Hmmmm... it just occurred to me - she looks kindof like a golden statue of a very haughty Wilma Flintstone. Cool.

Next stop, Mary Anne in Canada!

Another Goody in the Mail

Yvonne sent me these Orchid tree seeds from Texas. I just love these things. Great mixed media embellishments. Thanks, Yvonne!

I haven't managed to complete any arts & crafts projects lately, but I'm working on some stuff for Susan's doll, Tabula Rosa. I also ordered and received a new cool book, ethnic dress by Frances Kennett, that Susan told us about. And it happens to have some good pics of Perusian dress - perfect reference for what I'm making for Tabula. Now I'm gonna go page thru it while I eat Stouffers french bread pizzas (my favorite!).

Cool-Aberration 2009 - Tabula Rosa

I got my 2nd doll in the collaboration! This is Tabula Rosa started by Susan in WI. Here's what she looks like now, after visiting Yvonne in TX.
Check out Yvonne's blog to see details about everything she added to Tabula and her journal. She made Tab's cool face, a rain stick, and a teeny tiny journal of Tab's own. I've just started on something for Tabula, but I'm not telling what it is yet in case it doesn't work out.

Several of us in the project are blogging about the dolls, so check out all the participants' blogs listed on the sidebar here.

Swap Fortune Doll

The Decidedly Different Dolls (3D)yahoo! group is doing their first swap of wee dolls. Dot's received hers from me, so I can show it here now.

We'll also be displaying all the swap dolls on our 3D blog in August, so check it out, too.
