Another pinless pin

Here's another pin-to-be, this one with a polymer clay head. Still waiting for the pinbacks I ordered.

Oooh...she has a wonderful face! Is it from a mold or your own design?

Thanks, MA. It's my design.

I do like your pin. Did you paint her face or how did you get the colours?

Yep, I painted it with acrylics. I used white Sculpy clay and then I painted a base coat of a sienna brown followed by a coat of metallic copper. Then I painted it with a tealish color and wiped most of it off so it just stayed in the cracks and crevices. Then coated with glossy polyacrylic sealer.

Gosh, that sounds like an awful lot of work for one miniature face. Do you do more than one at a time?

I don't make a lot of clay faces, so I usually do one at a time. The entire painting process takes maybe 10 minutes, because the acrylics dry so fast (and I hurry it along in the microwave). Making the clay face takes me a little longer, but still not long.

After reading all the comments I think it's fair to say that you make great faces. I bet you could sell them.
